North42 Rhubarb & Blood Orange Gin is an exceptional craft gin distilled in Leicestershire, made with fresh rhubarb, blood orange and a carefully selected blend of botanicals including juniper, coriander seed and citrus peel.

The gin has been created to be enjoyed on any occasion, either as part of a classic gin and tonic, at the heart of an indulgent cocktail, or even on its own.

Our recommendation…

We suggest serving North42 Rhubarb & Blood Orange Gin with a premium ginger ale or traditional tonic, garnished with dehydrated blood orange and a slice of rhubarb.

North42 Rhubarb & Blood Orange Gin is a premium distilled craft gin with an ABV of 42%. Distilled and bottled in Leicestershire, it is available in 70cl bottles.

Our story…

Four years ago, Sally and Joanna opened North Bar & Kitchen in Leicester’s vibrant West End – a bar and restaurant which has become famous not only for its fabulous cuisine but for its unrivalled range of 41 gins.

But the pair had another burning ambition – a desire to create their own craft gin. Their inspiration would come in the shape of a cocktail they sold in the bar – the Rhubarb Tumble – which combined tart rhubarb with sweet, zesty blood orange.

A highly successful crowdfunding campaign and a close partnership with a local distiller saw this dream turn into a reality, and Sally and Joanna have come up with what they believe is the perfect gin.

When it came to naming their gin, it was easy. Sally and Joanna’s restaurant is based at 42 Hinckley Road, they opened for business on 4th February and, of course, their gin is 42% ABV. It was meant to be!

North42 Rhubarb & Blood Orange Gin is fantastic on its own, or served as one of our signature pours (with tonic water or ginger ale and garnished with dehydrated orange), but if you’d like to try something extra special, why not enjoy it in one of our house cocktails.

Atomic North

25ml North42 Gin
25ml fresh lime juice
25ml sweet
vermouth
25ml gomme syrup
12.5ml egg white*
Ice Cubes

Put all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake until a nice foam is created. Strain into a Martini glass using a cocktail strainer and allow the foam to settle on top. Garnish with a slice of dehydrated orange or use a 42 stencil and sprinkle dehydrated fruit powder on top.

Tumble Cocktail

25ml North42 Gin
12.5ml 40% blood orange liqueur
Ginger Ale
Crushed ice

Put crushed ice into a cocktail shaker along with a measure of North42 Rhubarb & Blood Orange Gin and a half-measure of blood orange liqueur. Shake and then pour into a low-ball glass. Top up with ginger ale and garnish with dehydrated blood orange and lime.

*To make a vegan version of this cocktail substitute with 12.5ml of lecithin.

Gin Fizz

25ml North42 Gin
12.5ml rhubarb liqueur
prosecco

Pour a measure of North42 Rhubarb & Blood Orange Gin into a Champagne flute. Slowly add half a measure of rhubarb liqueur so that it sits on top of the gin. Then, using the back of a cocktail spoon, pour prosecco into the flute until the glass is three-quarters full. Garnish with a spiral of lime or orange peel.
